Dan Miller - Big Shark Racing

Dan first enjoyed bicycle racing during college, when he entered a few WORS mountain bike races, then a few local St. Louis events. But he was focused in many things during that time, so cycling was on the back burner until he started medical school in 2007 at age 27. At that point, he was married and had just had his first daughter. So cyclocross seemed like a wonderful family activity with a baby!

There was something about the combination of discipline, health and professional priorities (that were NOT cycling), the easily accessible adventure, and subsequent easy accessible utilization of indoor training that just made cycling stick as an adult. Plus, he has strong legs and weak shoulders.

Almost 20 years later, training is still fun. Racing is a hobby and game that is simultaneously a joke and an expression of those things he finds important in life: grit, efficiency, the pursuit of technical mastery, grace, strength, adventure and camaraderie.
